The Office of School Improvement at the Rhode Island Department of Education will host an all-day convening to provide an overview of the activities and requirements for all CSI-identified schools, regardless of their intent to apply for funding. Please note, however, the ability to receive any 1003 School Improvement funds is contingent upon a district’s full participation in this convening and the components of this process.
Also, it is important to note that each principal of a CSI-identified school will need to bring one active and engaged parent or community member. This means that each district with a CSI-identified school will have at least a team of three individuals present, depending on the number of CSI schools in the district: the superintendent, the principal, and the parent/community member.
During our time together, we will walk through the values and priorities that inform this work, the timelines associated with various pieces of this work, the accountability system itself, the online report cards, the process of applying for both competitive and formulaic funding, the importance of parental empowerment and community engagement, and the role of evidence in school improvement, among other topics.
Finally, please note that lunch will be served for all participants, graciously provided in partnership by the Rhode Island Foundation.
