The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) ensures that Local Education Agencies (LEAs) comply with the federal requirements under the McKinney-Vento Act, which mandates that LEAs provide educational and support services to homeless children and youth so that they can meet the same academic standards as all students. To maintain compliance with these requirements, RIDE will annually monitor LEA Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Programs.
RIDE has organized an upcoming webinar on Tuesday May 21, 2024, from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM in order to provide an overview of the monitoring process and provide additional support resources. We strongly encourage your LEA’s attendance to ensure a smooth monitoring process.
