| Description: Alternate assessment is the state assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities (approximately 1% of the school aged population). Its purposes are to provide an alternate means of assessing students with significant cognitive disabilities so that they are included in school improvement efforts and school accountability systems. It is a year long assessment program that runs from September until mid-May. |
