Special Education Census |
Elizabeth Landry |
Colleagues:
I am writing in response to a request which was made at the Special Education Census Workshop at the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) on October 26, 2007. I was briefed by Elizabeth Landry on district requests by their data managers to move forward with their own software to maintain special education census data. RIDE is prepared to entertain individual requests from districts regarding this topic.
Please submit an email to Elizabeth Landry at elizabeth.landry@ride.ri.gov with a subject line of ‘District Special Education Software’ if your district is currently engaged in parallel data entry with RIDE’s special education census and you would like to seek validation from RIDE after December’s collection. In your email, please let us know the software your district is running for maintaining special education data.
If your district has not moved toward your own special education data software application, but plans to do so in the near future, we would like to know in advance. RIDE is welcoming individual district requests which are submitted in writing to:
Elizabeth Landry
Rhode Island Department of Education
Office of Special Populations

Please know that the data manager and administrator of special education will be required to meet with staff members of RIDE to discuss the viability of your request.
Sincerely,
Kenneth G. Swanson
