RIDE - dropout audit |
Dr. Ken Gu - SEA |
This is to let you know that in the next couple of weeks
we will be contacting selected districts with a significant number of discrepancies in their dropout reporting for 04-05.
This is a critical step for the State to manage and improve
data quality, formulate a better procedure to collect the
dropout data and a final protocal to compute real graduation and dropout rates based on longitudinal cohort data in the next couple of years as required by NCLB.
We will be emailing you individually with a spreadsheet which lists all of the students grades 7 and up who were one-time enrolled in your district in 2004-05 but since NOT re-enrolled anywhere in the State's public school system as of October 2005 AND who were NOT reported to the State as Dropouts.
In addition, we will be emailing you a code sheet and a set of instructions which you can use to properly update and code the exit-status for each student in question.
Thank you for your efforts and cooperation and special thanks to those districts who have already responded and helped us in the early process.
For any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact me or Elizabeth.
