RIDE - dropout report 04 data verification |

| We want to first thank you for verifying and fixing the October enrollment data. Hundreds of duplicate and erroneous data records have been resolved and fixed. The reports are somewhat delayed because of this extra effort, but we know we now have the best enrollment counts ever!
I also want your attention to your recently submitted dropout data for 03-04. While I was analyzing the data, I found many 'dropouts' were later enrolled in another district/school; I also found many dropouts being reported more than once. A few cases were assigned the wrong student ID. I know by this time next year, you will be questioning the dropout data you submitted when the data are used to compute the graduation rate for school classification purposes. So before the dropout records become final, we would like you to review these 'dropouts' in question (click or follow this link: http://www.eride.ri.gov/doc/dropout_report_04_data_verification.pdf). Some districts have more dropouts to review than others, some may have none. It is important to review the list, correct any problems when found, because I'm sure this will benefit the districts in terms better accountability of student dropout.
